We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
- That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,
- That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
There are fundamental truths on which our nation and her traditions are built:
- That God endowed all of humankind with rights that Government
may not take away.
- That life itself is sacred, and a person's life belongs to
them alone.
- That human liberty may not be taken by Government or Man.
- That each person has the right to pursue their own happiness
so long as it does not interfere with others.
- That the role of government is to protect these rights, not
to restrict or take them away.
- When government tries to take things from The People
that are rightfully theirs – whether singly or collectively – it
is The People's right to change it, or to eliminate it entirely and
put a new one in its place.
- It is The People's right to decide what manner of government
might best protect their safety and happiness.
